Innovation and Commercialisation
Discover, validate, protect and apply African ideas, research and technologies through founder-conscious pathways into useful solutions and enterprises.

CIE Africa Continental Strategic Framework
I-FEEDIAOne framework. Connected programmes. Continental outcomes.
Turning Africa’s innovation potential into enterprise, productive employment, integrated markets and shared prosperity.
Framework purpose
The continental mission
I-FEEDIA is not a single project, donor programme or replacement for national priorities.
It is CIE Africa’s continental framework for connecting national missions, programmes, ventures, institutions, infrastructure, capital and markets around enterprise creation, employment, productivity and inclusive economic opportunity.
National frameworks act locally. I-FEEDIA connects learning, capacity and opportunities across borders so effective models can grow into wider African outcomes.
Strategic pillars
The framework combines supply-side capability with enterprise demand, productive infrastructure, capital and access to markets.
Discover, validate, protect and apply African ideas, research and technologies through founder-conscious pathways into useful solutions and enterprises.
Strengthen founders, SMEs, venture teams and productive companies with capability, partnerships, finance, infrastructure and growth support.
Connect learning, apprenticeships, projects, entrepreneurship and formal employment with real industry, institutional and community demand.
Mobilise domestic, diaspora, development and international capital toward investable ventures, infrastructure and value-creating initiatives.
Connect hubs, institutes, digital platforms, districts and technopolises that provide the environments and shared capability innovation needs.
Enable cross-border services, regional value chains, digital trade, enterprise expansion and wider access to African and global markets.
Participant and enterprise pathway
The pathway can support people, ventures, technologies, programmes and institutions at different starting points while connecting them to shared outcomes.
Identify talent, ideas, research, technologies, enterprise needs and opportunities through chapters, communities and partners.
Test relevance, feasibility, demand, ownership and delivery pathways while developing required skills and partnerships.
Form ventures, deploy solutions, initiate programmes and connect teams with infrastructure, customers and appropriate capital.
Expand production, employment, value chains and market reach across countries, regions and strategic innovation corridors.
Return knowledge, mentorship, networks, investment and opportunity into the ecosystem so success enables further participation.
Continental framework, national execution
The framework respects country ownership and institutional responsibility while enabling continental learning, replication, integration and market access.
Country frameworks such as I-FEEDING respond to national priorities, institutions, sectors and communities; I-FEEDIA does not replace them.
Evidence and learning from national programmes can be adapted, connected and responsibly replicated through other CIE chapters and partner nodes.
I-FEEDIA connects enterprises, talent, capital, technologies and institutions across borders and with global innovation and market-access gateways.
Common safeguards, measurement principles and partnership expectations enable collaboration without erasing local context or institutional responsibility.
Who participates
Engagement is structured around clear roles and concrete contributions rather than partnership labels alone.
Align innovation, skills, enterprise, infrastructure and employment priorities through coordinated national and regional pathways.
Shape demand-led programmes, develop value chains, localise technology, build suppliers and expand into connected markets.
Link knowledge, talent and intellectual property with industry problems, venture creation and commercialisation opportunities.
Access founder-conscious development, capability, partnerships, infrastructure, investment readiness and market pathways.
Engage structured pipelines of ventures, projects and infrastructure opportunities with appropriate governance and transparent terms.
Co-develop scalable initiatives, innovation corridors, knowledge partnerships and inclusive economic-development programmes.
Move through skills, projects, apprenticeships, employment, entrepreneurship, leadership and investment participation pathways.
Define local priorities, convene stakeholders, support delivery and connect national activity with the wider continental network.
Connected implementation ecosystem
CIE Africa provides stewardship while specialised structures deliver distinct parts of the framework.
Institutional stewardship, standards, coordination, knowledge, partnerships and national adaptation.
Talent discovery, skills, founder-safe validation, venture building, commercialisation and employment pathways.
CIE Academy builds capability; CIE Global Ventures supports commercial execution; ventures deliver scalable market solutions.
Physical and digital communities connect talent, research, technology, production, enterprise and services.
Investment, AfCFTA readiness, partner nodes, regional value chains and African–global expansion pathways.
Industry, government, universities, investors, professionals and communities contribute demand, capability and opportunity.
Governance and safeguards
Continental ambition requires governance capable of protecting people, institutions, intellectual property, investment integrity and programme credibility.
Clear stewardship, partner roles, implementation authority, performance expectations and accountability at continental, national and programme levels.
Participation, submission or programme support does not transfer ownership; commercial rights require transparent written agreements.
Programme admission, investment decisions and commercial transactions use appropriate separation, criteria, disclosure and oversight.
Initiatives track credible enterprise, employment, capability, market, institutional and inclusion outcomes rather than activity alone.
Models are adapted to law, culture, institutions, demand and local leadership rather than copied without context.
Partner with the framework
Collaborate through national missions, programmes, enterprise pathways, investment, knowledge partnerships, innovation infrastructure and cross-border market initiatives.
